Asian Fabrics

Silk Road Album covers feature over 50 exquisite Asian fabrics which can be used individually or combined with a contrasting spine color for literally thousands of unique styles. There’s even an option for ivory and black leather covers.

Modern Design

Silk Road Albums are square, flush mount, hingeless books printed on Kodak photographic paper. Pages are available in 8x8”, 10x10” or 12x12” either as folded pano spreads or split pages.

Silk Road Pages

All Silk Road album pages are printed on Kodak paper and have a luster surface. You can also choose to have the pages sprayed with a matte spray.

Albums begin with the first page on the left hand side of the first 2 page spread. Some photographers will leave the first page a solid black, white or color. You might also want to print the couples names, or use a photo of the invitation on the first page.

Similarly, albums end with the last page on the right hand side. Again, many photographers will leave the last page a solid black, white or color. You might also want to consider using the last page to display your studio's logo and copyright information

Albums can be created as either panoramic page spreads (panos) or split pages with a 3mm gutter as shown below:

The advantage of designs that incorporate pano pages spreads is that the layout flows across the seam with the least visual interruption. The advantage of split pages is that the seam will not discolor over time as can happen with folded prints. With either pano or split editions, the album pages lie flat when opened.

Standard Leather Covered Albums

Leather albums feature solid spines, hingeless binding, and padded covers in either black or ivory.

Leather covered albums have a minimum of 15 pages/30 sides and a maximum of 24 pages/48 sides.

Up to 2 extra pages can be added to any of the capacities above.

A 3.25x3.25 inch inset cover photo is available on the 12x12 leather albums.

Custom Fabric Covered Albums

Silk Road fabric albums feature hingeless binding, and a choice of over 50 exquisite Asian cover fabrics.

A second fabric can be used for contrasting spine color as shown below:

Fabric covered albums have a minimum of 10 pages/20 sides.

The maximum number of pages for fabric albums with pano pages is 25 pages/50 sides.

The maximum number of pages for fabric albums with split pages is 22 pages/44 sides.

8x8 inch fabric album capacities:

10 pages/20 sides
15 pages/30 sides
20 pages/40 sides

10x10 inch fabric album capacities:

10 pages/20 sides
15 pages/30 sides
20 pages/40 sides

12x12 inch fabric album capacities:

10 pages/20 sides

20 pages/40 sides

Extra pages can be added to any of the capacities above, up to the album style's maximum number of pages.

Printed swatch pages are available at no charge. These printed swatch pages are as color accurate as we can make them, but they may not be a perfect match for some fabrics, such as our iridescent fabrics.

You can also request a fabric swatchbook, which is made of up the actual swatches of our cover fabrics. Fabric swatches are the best way to judge both the color and the texture of the fabric . There is a small fee for fabric swatchbooks.

Ordering

To order a silk road album, place an order for the album pages using our LabPrints or our ROES software. In the special instructions area, indicate that the prints are for a Silk Road Album, and indicate the type of album, as well as leather or fabric choice. Dedicated Silk Road Album ordering tools will be coming soon to our ROES software. It's usually best to call and speak with someone in our customer service department before placing your first order.
